It's hard for me to write this morning because I just don't know what to say. Every other morning the words would flow from my keyboard onto the computer screen with ease. Today is different. I didn't get much sleep last night, had a terrifying dream that woke me up at 3am and couldn't get back to bed. I prayed until 7am until I finally decided to get up and get to work.
For the past 34 days, amazing things have been happening to me, my family and my business. I ran into a little bump in the road last night with my wife. I made her promises 35 days ago and haven't broken one of them since. Our marriage has been like when we first started dating. Date nights, nightly talks on the deck, walks in the park, strolls on the boardwalk.....etc. But last night a broke a small promise to her. I let her down. I let myself down last night. Even though this promise seems so small, in my mind it is huge. Because when you make promises to people, and you never keep them they become lies. And our marriage has been based on honesty and love the past 35 days. We talked about it last night and after I explained what happened, she totally understood why I had to break that promise. And we let it go. Always moving forward.
But it still eats at me this morning. I'm being very hard on myself. But thinking it through, as much as we want to be perfect, we are not! There is only ONE who is perfect and that's our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
1 Peter 2:22
He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth.
James 1:13
Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one.
But let's be honest, we all make mistakes in our life. And God knows that we are not perfect and that we will continue to make mistakes. So how do you get over it? Apology and Prayer! With all your heart and beg for forgiveness.
James 5:16
Therefore, confess your sins to one another and
1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Luke 17:3-4
Pay attention to yourselves! If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him, and if he sins against you seven times in the day, and turns to you seven times, saying, ‘I repent,’ you must forgive him.”
Because we are not perfect, and because we make mistakes, it's important to realize the God still love us. He understands. He doesn't cast blame or judgement. Why should I continue to be so hard on myself when God forgives me? How come it's so hard to forgive ourselves? I think it's because our mind is so consumed with the mistake you made that you try and handle it yourself instead of laying it down at the cross and getting on with your day.
Matthew 12:30
"For the yoke (burden) I will give you is easy, and the load I will put on you is light."
