Day 44 - The Day of Rest!

Good evening everyone. Sorry I didn't write sooner but after an amazing church service this morning and then going to directly to Lucas's soccer game, we came home to watch some football and I fell asleep on the couch. Yes, the Giants are THAT boring to watch.
This morning our church Alive Again visited a church in Long Branch called Searchlight church. The worship team was awesome and the pastor gave a great sermon. It was basically about our mission in life. What is our mission? We all have a mission sometimes whether it's trying to get work done, clean the house or shopping. Haven't we all said at when time, "Man, I'm on a mission today"?
But is that the mission that God wants us to have? I don't believe so.
I took many notes from his sermon today and reflected a lot on these notes. They might be jumbled around in different order but here's the gist of what I got out of this morning's message.
Don't worry about anything, instead pray about everything. God listens to our prayers and if we truly believe what we are praying then most of the times they will be answered. If you have received Christ in your life then your mission is simple: Found people find people!!!!! Go out and make Him known.
What is a mission? A mission either defines success or failure, plain and simple. When you do XMAS shopping for that one important item, you are on a mission. Sometimes you succeed in finding that and sometimes you don't. There is no in between.
When I think about my mission, I realize that my mission from God is to write. To write this blog about my life so people can take some part of it and apply it to there life. I have already witnessed people being brought closer to God because of this blog. I know there is something else I should be doing, but I haven't figured that out yet. All I know is on my day of reckoning, when I stand before the Lord, I wanna hear, "Job well don't Scott, you may enter!"
All I can say to you is to truly listen through prayer and conversation with God and try and find your mission. It's pretty simple when you think about it. Just model yourself after Jesus. Jesus was God on a mission.
Luke 19:10
10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” This was Jesus's mission. And he followed it according to God and never was off his mission! He focused on his goal: Come to earth, preach the gospel and die on the cross for our sins. Could you imagine what our lives would be like if he didn't complete his mission?
Sometimes we are being pulled away from our mission. Perhaps at school, or work or because what others tell us or think of us. NEVER lose sight of your mission.
Matthew 16:22-24
22 And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying, “Far be it from you, Lord![a] This shall never happen to you.” 23 But he turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a hindrance[b] to me. For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.”
Jesus actually called Peter Satan!!!!! Because Peter was trying to pull Jesus away from his mission!
He knew Peter was thinking of himself rather than God. This also shows that Jesus will die for his church! And doesn't that happen to all of us from time to time. When things are going well, we think we are doing it all ourselves???? We are never doing anything ourselves! Amen?
Matthew 28:19-20
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Jesus is telling us what our mission should be. Important thing to remember here, we don't go to the church, WE ARE THE CHURCH! Every minute of everyday. Just because you couldn't make Sunday Service to gather with your friends and worship the Lord doesn't mean you have to wait till next week. Call a friend, read the bible, talk to someone about Jesus. We are the church.....we just meet in a gathering place every Sunday.

Lastly, every man and women has felt inadequate. All that means is that you are feeling like you can't do something. Excuses, oh that's too hard or I know I can't do that! How do you know? Through Christ ALL things are possible. AMEN?
We are all inadequate because we need more of the Holy Spirit in our bodies. Why is ok for everyone to talk about God? God bless you, God worked miracles today in our life. I hear it all the time. But ever notice that we are sometimes afraid to say JESUS? People usually look around to see who's listening and start to say "Thank you J.E.S.....I mean thank God! Why??? Because we are missing the third part. We need more of the Holy Spirit in our lives and body. Amen?
Acts 1:1-8
In the first book, O Theophilus, I have dealt with all that Jesus began to do and teach, until the day when he was taken up, after he had given commands through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen. He presented himself alive to them after his suffering by many proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God.
And while staying[a] with them he ordered them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, he said, “you heard from me; for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with[b] the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

You see, Jesus ordered his disciples to wait for the promise of the father God not to yet depart to Jerusalem. But they questioned him about his time, saying will you do this now? And His response was simple, "It is not for you to know times or seasons that our God has fixed by his authority."
Why did they question the word of Jesus? Because they needed more of the Holy Spirit and more of God's power.

We need God's power! We need it for the following to find our mission in life:
1 - To Abandon our current mission. ( Would Jesus be happy with your current mission?)
2 - Accept God's mission for us. (If you don't know it, just pray and ask Him for your mission)
3 - Live our mission. (Don't let Satan get in the way of your mission)
4 - Endure the mission. (Jump in feet first and love every minute of it....Its a great ride!)

I hope you all learned a little something from me today that I learned from someone new! I love you all. Monday tomorrow.....but if you went to service, you should wake up full of the Holy Spirit and ready to tackle the week! If you don't feel that way, call me......I'll help! Oh and by the way, Congrats to Lucas and his team for winning 5-1 against and undefeated team who won last week 7-0. Lucas scored and pointed his hands in the air as to say thanks to God!!! Amen????

Where do blessings come from? Song of the day: Blessing by Laura Story

Bible Verse of the day: Matthew 16:24-26
24 Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 25 For whoever would save his life[c] will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. 26 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?

Have an amazing and blessed week! Love you all!
Scott
